A Million Licensable Moments
By Lauren Kostka - Senior Product Manager, Creator Experience
The Catch+Release Creator Community has hit a major milestone: our Community members have made more than a million of their videos and photos licensable through Catch+Release.
Problem: Find and license the perfect shot, fast
The Creator Community was born out of 2 major pain points that we consistently hear from people working on ad campaigns:
They are looking for a needle in a haystack. Finding the perfect scene is hard. Stock sites often don’t have the quality, variety, or authenticity that brands are looking for because creators are unwilling to turn their best content into stock. And finding it “in the wild” can be a difficult, time-intensive task.
They need answers quickly. Even if they find that perfect piece of content they want to use, there’s still the hurdle of finding, contacting, and securing licensing rights from the copyright owner and models. If they run out of time, brands turn to lower-quality stock content.
Catch+Release built a licensing platform that streamlines the processes of finding and licensing content. But we thought we could make it even more efficient by creating the world’s first community of license-friendly creators.
Solution: A license-friendly corner of the internet
Our Creator Community is a game-changer for content licensing. Creators who are interested in licensing can add their photos and videos to our platform to make it available for brands to browse. These creators know that we’re the real deal and are excited to receive licensing offers from brands.
We’ve made it simple for creators to add tons of content from their social accounts or via upload. Unlike stock libraries, we don’t ask for any paperwork up front; instead, we obtain the rights once a brand is interested in using their content. This ensures that creators can review every licensing offer and protect their creative integrity. Because of the ease of use and creative protections, creators are willing to add a lot of content–more than 450 shots per creator on average.
As a result, we have given brands access to a huge pool of content that is better than stock and more licensable than content found in the wild. This irresistible combination has turned the Creator Community into the top source of content licensed on our platform in 2024, surpassing content found directly on sites like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
And with over a million photos and videos now available and more added every day, you just might find that perfect shot for your next campaign.
Celebrating the millionth piece of content in the Creator Community
To celebrate this milestone, we decided to shine a light on the millionth piece of content added to the Creator Community:
Professional BMX freestyle athlete Chelsea Wolfe added this video of her doing tricks in a half pipe on a cloudy day. This is just one of hundreds of cool shots Chelsea has added to her Creator Community profile showcasing her impressive BMX biking abilities and life as a pro athlete.
Chelsea appreciates the ease and convenience of the Creator Community. “Being part of the Catch+Release Creator Community is convenient for me because it allows me to market the content that I'm already creating anyways without needing to do extra work to advertise and license it,” Chelsea said.
She connected her Instagram account to her Creator Community profile, so now when she posts on Instagram, that content becomes available for brands to discover and request to license. Since joining earlier this year, one of her videos was licensed by a major tech brand.

Real people like Chelsea are joining the Creator Community every day, making their content available for brands to discover and license. From athletes to home cooks, from college students to retired grandparents–if it’s an authentic moment, you can probably find it on Catch+Release.

Ads & Curation - Why are they interrelated?
Jim Beam, a beloved whiskey brand, ran a TV ad in May 2024. The spot, aptly named “People are Good” focuses on humans and has little to do with the taste and attributes of the product. Instead it’s focused on the outcomes and yes, the value. In other words, bringing people together to experience life’s precious moments. As a viewer, it pulls you in, tugs at your heart-strings. It’s real and therefore believable.
